I lied

Okay, so I lied when I said I would get this started again. To be honest, I haven't been able to find the time. Between procrastination, Teamliquid, homework, and college apps, I'm just swamped. I'll start writing more frequently when I get the time. Thank god MEA is coming up. I really need the sleep.

Some thoughts

COZY'S BLOG IS BACK! Visit it at http://quintequences.blogspot.com/

I was thinking about what to write. I stared at the ceiling and saw a black dot. I can't see it anymore. I'm too far away. I need to lie down on my bed, limbs splayed towards the four corners, and stare to find it once more. I like that dot.

Why Emma sucks.

I would say spoiler, but it's a monotonous, pointless book with a plot that's not worth following. If you get spoilered, don't sweat it. I'm just saving your time.

1. Prose. I can't stand Emma's style. Reading Emma might as well have been reading Miss Bates the whole way through. That is, reading rambling, incoherent drivel which makes me wonder, "Why do I care?" But wait, it gets worse. Austen uses archaic constructions forcing 10 words instead of 3. Austen uses elevated diction for little purpose, and while used correctly, it still feels like I'm reading an idiot trying to use a thesaurus to sound "intellectual." Luckily, no one I know writes like that. Thank god.

2. Plot. It's boring. I didn't care. I just tried to get through 471 pages ASAP. It's predictable. Who didn't guess Frank+Jane or Harriet+Robert? I'm quite sure I saw that around 200 pages in. She tries to trick the reader, hehehe, but those were just extraneous words. I'll admit Knightly+Emma was surprising, but that's because they're brother/sister in laws. Doesn't that count for incest? Ugh, too close for comfort though.

3. Characters. I hated them all except the Knightlys. Maybe that's why the plot bored me. I didn't care about the characters, so why should I care about what happens to them? Emma could die of heat stroke, end the book earlier, and I'd be all the happier. Compare this to Pride and Prejudice or Persuasion where I actually cared because the heroine wasn't a pompous, spoiled, immature bonehead, and you'll see why I hated this book. Mrs. Elton signified skim to me, as did Miss Bates, as did Mr. Elton, as did Harriet Smith.

What a waste of time.

The lie and the truth

Sometimes I wonder if I lie to myself enough times, can it become truth? I guess it's best to try it.
It can become truth.
It can become truth.
It can become truth.
...
I'll get back to you on the results.

Getting back into the swing

Writing is like Starcraft. It rusts if you don't use it. It's not hard to grind off most of the rust, but it's hard to reach that previous level. A few practice games might make me high D again, but until I start playing everyday, I'm just going to keep losing D+ games at this rate. No matter. Just need to keep practicing.

Re-start

It's August.

Okay. Time to restart this blog. I haven't been keeping up with it. It's not that I forgot about it or that I have nothing to write. I've just been lazy. Forgive me, dear readers. You've all left me now.

So what brought me back? It's not school. Nah, high school couldn't motivate me to write. It's those thoughts swimming in my head as I head to bed every night. I've neglected them long enough. It's time to start putting them on "paper" again.

First thought - I'm out of touch. My sentences suck. I'm verbose. My writing has become coarse. I can't finish a thought.

Second thought - I don't want to read Emma. That's to say I really really really really really don't want to read Emma.

Third thought - It's great to be writing again. Can you believe some people think it's unnatural to like writing? Weird huh. It's also great to re-visit great writing. Here's to you Mr. J.D. Salinger, for your Nine Stories continually influences how I compose.

I'm tired. Goodnight!

Dark Knight Rises > HP7.5

Here's why:

1. Morgan Freeman. BEAT THAT!

2. I'm a selfish being. I get my wisdom teeth pulled the day before HP7.5 comes out. I can't go to any midnight parties/midnight premier. )=<

3. Bane is a badass.

4. Batman Begins and Dark Knight were both spectacular movies. Nolan won't disappoint.

5. Cast of DKR is incredible.

6. Nolan+All Star Cast will blow any HP movie out of the water

7. Most movies made from books have been worse, HP is no exception.

8. HP7 (the book) was relatively crappy compared to the rest of it. (Deathly Hollows felt like BS to me >_>.)
